Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, Fujita Kanko’s iconic five-star flagship property, reopened its upscale soba (Japanese buckwheat noodles) restaurant, Mucha-an, with enhanced menus featuring various tastes of Tokyo after a renovation. Soba is one of Japan’s traditional and long-loved foods. The origin of soba can be traced back to the eighth century. In the Edo period, 1603-1868, soba eateries were already popular, and it remains one of Japan’s favorites today.

Mucha-an, which is one of Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo’s nine first-rate dining facilities, sits in the hotel’s legendary Japanese garden, a massive green oasis in the middle of Tokyo, like a hideaway in deep woods. Although the restaurant’s interior has been refurbished, its genuine Japanese architecture, originally built in the Muromachi period, 1336-1573, has been carefully reserved.

“Dining at Mucha-an is tasting a piece of Japanese culture and history. We offer not only exquisite dishes but also an authentic atmosphere. We want to welcome international visitors at our restaurant and invite them to savor the experience like locals,” said Hiroshi Izumi, General Manager of Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo.

Mucha-an’s soba is freshly made every day at the restaurant. Its signature dishes feature various local produce such as Tokyo shamo chickens. Its sake selection includes a local sake brand. Table and glass wares are impeccably selected to enrich the taste. In addition to its signature dishes, Mucha-an is currently offering two summer specials, five or seven-course lunch/dinner including a soba dish throughout September 17th. Also, to celebrate the reopening, a special sake tasting menu is available until July 31st.

Whether visiting Tokyo for business or fun, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is a perfect urban resort for those who want to enjoy a “summer retreat” without leaving Tokyo. The urban resort is equipped with the vast garden, spacious guest rooms/suites with breathtaking views, the largest hotel spa in Tokyo with a hot spring on top of the wide variety of restaurants and other facilities. Unique activities are also available. The hotel’s one-of-a-kind rooftop space will be“Champagne Garden” during the summer.
