Cartagena is having a moment. Travelers are flocking to Colombia’s cool coastal city, its walled Old Town recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its not just the sunny climate and turquoise Caribbean Sea that’s so appealing; Cartagena is a cultural destination par excellence.
This is the first hotel in Colombia for Conrad, Hilton’s “smart luxury hotel brand.” According to Tom Potter, Hilton’s senior vice president, operations, Latin America and the Caribbean, “We recognize the significance of this city in Colombia and have placed a focus on the expansion of our portfolio throughout the country.” The property is located 20 minutes from the Rafael Nunez International Airport.
Here’s what to expect. At Conrad Cartagena are 109 guestrooms, designed with wood and marble accents, equipped with large windows framing views of the sea or golf course, and adorned with artwork by Colombian artists Pedro Ruiz and Kiko Kairuz. An additional 159 guestrooms will be unveiled in early 2018. Each bathroom has a separate tub and shower.
Facilities are expansive, appealing to both business and leisure travelers. For one thing, there are a whopping five swimming pools and seven F&B outlets. The 24,000 square feet of flexible event space—including a Grand Ballroom and five meeting rooms—means ample room for receptions and conventions. Early next year, the Conrad Cartagena will show off the Karibana Beach Club, a well-equipped Kids Club and a 9,600-square-foot spa.
