Masseria Torre Maizza is a luxury five-star hotel housed inside a 16th-century masseria (farm) located near Savelleteri di Fasano, about halfway between Bari and Brindisi on the coast.
The existing facilities get high marks: A spa, a nine-hole golf course, kids club, swimming pool, cooking school and Coccaro Beach Club. But Rocco Forte plans a complete refurbishment of Masseria Torre Maizza before it reopens as a Rocco Forte hotel in May 2019. The six-million-euro investment will increase the room count from 30 to 40 rooms, which director of design Olga Polizzi will enhance with the help of local artisans. A number of junior suites and suites will be added—and all rooms will have private gardens.
In announcing the acquisition, Sir Rocco Forte noted the deep traditions and beauty of Puglia, “one of Italy’s greatest treasures.” As a Rocco Forte hotel, Masseria Torre Maizza will allow guests to unlock the secrets of the region through exclusive local experiences. In addition, recreational activities will include yoga, horseback riding, sailing and more. Rocco Forte Hotels currently comprises 11 properties, with new hotels in Shanghai and Rome also slated to open in 2019.
