HARD ROCK HOTEL IBIZA
Hard Rock is one of the world’s best known hotel groups, with rock inspired hotels throughout the world. 2014 saw the famous group make its move into the European market with a debut in Ibiza. Playa d’en Bossa is the location for the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza and the hotel made quite an impression since the first month it opened its doors for guests.
Transforming the beachfront of the islands longest beach, the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza offers a stunning option for discerning tourists visiting the island. The hotel itself has all of the facilities that any self respecting five star hotel would have but add two world class restaurants, one of which is officially the most expensive in the world, and a live stage that has already hosted Nile Rodgers, Chic, UB40 and Neneh Cherry and you understand that this is a positive addition to the Ibiza landscape.
HACIENDA NA XAMENA
The Hacienda Na Xamena evokes the bohemian spirit of 1970s Ibiza in one of the best locations in the Balearics. The hotel is built into the side of a cliff, concealed by pine forests all around, with fabulous views of the Mediterranean in all its glory. It is located in the north-west corner of the island and it’s 10 minutes’ drive from the village of Sant Miquel and half an hour from the airport.
There is a lot of boho-shabby-chic gorgeousness going on in this traditional Ibizan structure and there is no doubt that it is dead romantic. It has been open for more than 40 years and was the first five-star hotel on the island. Built by Belgian architect Daniel Lipszyc, it is now run by his son, Alvar, who is gradually refurbishing the property. There is a curving outdoor pool, a smaller one and a good-sized indoor pool too. The loungers are a bit crammed together but there is more privacy on an upper sun terrace.
The showpiece of the hotel is the Cascades, a series of heated outdoor thalassotherapy pools linked by waterfalls on different levels, seeming to tumble down the hillside. Nearly all the 77 rooms and suites have sea views. Those in the Eden category have large hot tubs in private gardens but some are overlooked.
HOTEL AGUAS DE IBIZA
One of Europe’s first eco-luxury hotels, Aguas de Ibiza is committed to complete environmental management. Constructed by local architect, Juan de los Rios, the property borrows traditional construction with hints of Phoenician architecture to integrate the building with its surroundings. As part of its policy, Aguas de Ibiza works with suppliers that are aligned with an earth-friendly philosophy to respect the planet. From their amenities, to the selection of foods, from the rational use of paper, to valuing the use of renewable energies, Aguas de Ibiza has struck a smart, luxuriant balance between eco-conscious and chic comfort.
With interiors by Barcelona-based Triade Studio, the 112 rooms and suites have private terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows, with furnishings reflecting the seaside location in sandy neutral hues, accented by turquoise blues.
The VIP Cloud 9 Club is a hotel-in-a-hotel, with separate check-in and services, private outdoor bathtubs and parquet flooring. Dining options range from sophisticated tapas at the cheerful Alabastro Lounge to traditional Ibizan fare at gourmet restaurant La Sal. As the day ends, the rooftop Air Ibiza bar and lounge with open-air pool offers a prime perch for taking in the Balearic sunset as it sinks below the horizon.
