The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is the fourth resort in the portfolio of InterContinental French Polynesia resorts. Opened in May 2006, the resort lies on a virgin beach on the Motu Piti Aau (meaning “two hearts” in Tahitian) along the eastern side of Bora Bora and is accessible only by boat. The resort features 80 overwater bungalows.
The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa features an eco-friendly air-conditioning system, deploying a 7,874 foot pipe (the deepest ocean pipe in the world) to a depth of 3,000 feet off the reef of Bora Bora. The pipe pumps ice cold, deep-sea water through a titanium heat exchanger, transferring the cold into the fresh water circuit that then powers the air conditioning throughout the hotel.
The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is located on a virgin beach on the “Motu Piti Aau” (In Polynesian languages, motu refers to a reef islet formed by broken coral and sand surrounding an atoll) along the eastern side of Bora Bora and is accessible only by boat.
The view of the main Island from the Resort is unique, especially the “Mount Otemanu” (727m), rising majestically across the blue crystal waters of the lagoon. Its central location makes it very convenient for direct airport transfers (20 minutes) and access to the main Island (free boat transfer to the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort, ideally located on Matira Beach).
From the Le Moana Resort, you have easy access to Matira Beach (the only public beach of the Island, with a breathtaking sunset every evenings), and a few shopping places (souvenirs, supermarket, bike and car rental, snacks and restaurants, tattoo artists, art galleries).
All the restaurants are located 5-10 minutes by taxis or within walking distance (free transportation for dinner) and you’ll be 15 minutes away from Vaitape, the main village.
The Bora Bora airport is located on a Motu (island), accessible only by boat.
Reef restaurant affords a panoramic view over the lagoon and majestic Mount Otemanu towering up on the horizon. One of the finest culinary experiences in French Polynesia, Reef offers outstanding gourmet cuisine, served in relaxing local décor. Antoine Torricella, the restaurant’s sommelier, has carefully compiled a wine list with many labels that have received high recognition. The dinner menu features starters including Foie Gras, Swordfish Ravioli and a spoon of French Caviar. Signature dishes include Mahi Mahi, Sealed Sunfish, Pan-Seared Tuna, Grilled Prawns, Foie Gras Stuffed Pigeon, Beef Filet, and Lamb. Caramelized Bananas with Ginger, Guanaja Chocolate Fondant, and a selection of Crème Brulee are on the dessert menu.
Sands restaurant, which is ideally positioned on the hotel’s private, sandy beach, is perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. Enjoy local dishes, grilled fish and meats, burgers, pastas, salads, paninis, and Tahitian specialties.
Bubbles Bar is chic and cosmopolitan and is the ideal spot for relaxing or sharing a drink with friends any time of the day. Enjoy Happy Hour every day from 5 to 6 p.m.
