Situated in the southernmost atoll of the Maldives, lies the idyllic Canareef Resort Maldives, a 271 villa resort that presents the best the country has to offer. The island spans 4.5 kilometers, making Canareef the longest island resort in the country. Indulge in the multitude of activities the resort offers for your enjoyment.
Managed by a Singapore hospitality brand, the Canareef Resort Maldives welcomed its first guests in October 2015. The 4-star resort is located in the “heart-shaped” Addu Atoll, in the most Southern point of Maldives, and it is easily accessible via Gan International Airport and it’s just an hour and a half flight away from Male.
Spanning an impressive 4,5 kilometers in lenght and 46,3 ha in size, the Canareef Resort Maldives is an idyllic lifestyle resort, perfect for couples and the unpretentious avid traveller, whether they are looking for a romantic getaway or for exciting new adventures at affordable prices. The island soaks in picturesque views of the horizon and basks in the sun amongst long stretches of soft white sandy beaches, surrounded by beautiful blue and turquoise ocean hues.
The best way to reach Maldives is to embark in a flydubai Bussiness Class flight from many destinations in Europe and Middle East to Male (www.flydubai.com). After a short layover in Dubai, you will reach Male in about 4 hours. From there, you still have to wait for a Maldivian Airways flight to Gan Airport, but don’t worry, in the end and you will be rewarded with breathtaking views over the islands and Atolls from the air. Before the place arrives in Gan Airport, you will receive the best in-flight memorabilia, a personalized Equator Crossing Certificate.
After a 20 minute ride via a speed boat we arrived at Canareef Maldives, our own piece of Paradise for almost one week. Here, at Canareef, the guests can choose between Sunset and Surise Villas as well as premium Jacuzzi Villas. We had our own 97sqm comfortable Jacuzzi Villa, which comes not only with a jacuzzi in a private yard but also with your own stretch of private beach. You will even get your own bicycle while staying at Canareef. The distance from our villa to Kilhi, the all day dining restaurant, was around 2 km and we enjoyed taking a ride on the bike each time we had the chance. If you are not in a sporty mood, you can always call the Reception for a buggy. Be aware that you will have to wait a while at peak hours (breakfast, lunch and dinner time), due to the high number of requests.
Waking up at 6 am and jogging is a real treat not only for your body, but also for your eyes and soul. On the Lagoon part the Moon fades away, whilst on the other part of the Island, on the Indian Ocean Side, the Sun rises, marking the beginning of a new glorious day. Getting to see the Sun and the Moon in the sky, in the same time, was something really unique.
On our Maldivian escapade we have discovered that there are ways to enjoy a vacation even if you are not a billionaire or a Hollywood celebrity. Staying in this beach resort comes with amazing prices, which can be even 5 times lower than what you must pay for a Water Villa at other famous resorts. If you book Canareef this February, the price for the Sunrise villas starts from USD 213 per night, while the Jacuzzi Villa costs USD 76 more per night. The price is for two persons with breakfast included and for the All Inclusive the cost is only USD 60 per day/ person.
On the other hand, staying in a beach resort like Canareef comes with other advantages. You can enjoy many activities, both on-land and on-water, for great prices. For diving, snorkeling or for a Dolphin Tour the prices are half of what you will usually have to pay when staying in a famous five star resort. As a plus, Canareef is the only resort in the Maldives connected with a local island through a bridge, therefore a tour on the Hulhumeedhoo local island is a great opportunity for you to get to know the local community, to shop for local products, hand crafted souvenirs and to discover the secrets of their civilization while visiting the 800 year-old cemetery.
The best and the most affordable way to fly to Male is via flydubai. A ticket from Bucharest to Male is priced at around EUR 700, while the Business Class ticket is around EUR 2200. Catch the special offers on www.flydubai.com.
