Cristiano Ronaldo to launch CR7 hotel brand. It seems the world’s wealthiest and most famous footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, is bent on denting his $280 million fortune. Not only did the 30-year-old recently splash out on a New York penthouse and Gulfstream jet, he has now pledged $40 million to partner with Pestana Hotels.

CR7 properties will open in locations key to his life, such as Madeira, Lisbon (pictured), Madrid, and New York City.

The goal machine obviously had hospitality aspirations and has linked the new “CR7” properties with locations key to his life, such as Madeira, Lisbon, Madrid, and New York City; his home town, his capital, the location of current club Real Madrid, and where he may end up with aspirations of playing in the US MLS.

The four boutique hotels will have a combined total of 400 rooms and the first two Portuguese properties will open next year (2016), followed by the Madrid and NYC hotels in 2017. The footballer is funding half the project alongside Madeira-based Pestana – Portugal’s biggest hotel operator.

Pestana Hotels and Resorts, is a brand of the Pestana Group and it is present in three continents: Europe, South America and Africa. It is the largest Portuguese hotel company and it has the 109th place in the 300 biggest hotel groups in the world, ranking published by the Hotels Magazine.
